Alesha Dixon is an English singer. She used to be in the girl group Mis-Teeq.
In March 2005 it was announced that the band were separating to pursue solo careers.
Alesha signed a deal with Polydor Records and spent a year preparing her solo debut album, Fired Up. She worked with producers such as Richard X, Johnny Douglas and Xenomania.
Her first single "Lipstick" was released on August 14, 2006. She released her second single, the Xenomania-produced "Knockdown", on October 30, 2006.
Alesha's debut album was originally planned for release on November 6, 2006, but was then postponed. Fired Up was officially released only in Japan on February 20, 2008.
In 2008, Alesha began working with Xenomania again: "[Brian Higgins] called me at a time when I really needed to hear from him", Alesha said. "I had been doubting myself, unsure of what I was going to do next. And winning Strictly gave us more energy and ammunition to make the record fantastic. It also made me realise my demographic had changed slightly. I am trying to appeal to a wider audience, so that's slightly changed the direction of the album."
The album Welcome To the Alesha Show was released on November 2008, with eight Xenomania-produced songs. One of those was the single "The Boy Does Nothing".
