GIRLS ALOUD | I Think We're Alone Now

LYRICS:

Children behave
That's what they say when we're together
And watch how you play
They don't understand
And so we're

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we're doing
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew
And so we're

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
(Alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Notes:
"I Think We're Alone Now" was written by Ritchie Cordell in 1967. It has been recorded by Tommy James & the Shondells (1967), Tiffany (1987), among other artists.

The choice of single was changed from "Flashdance... What A Feeling" at the last minute after Girls Aloud called a meeting at their label and said they'd rather record "I Think We're Alone Now". The meeting was on Friday afternoon and The Sound Of Girls Aloud was being mastered on Monday.

At 11am on Saturday Girls Aloud arrived at Xenomania to record "I Think We're Alone Now". By the end of the day the song was finished - Brian Higgins says that Xenomania used the only idea they could think of, which was to make the song sound like "Something Kinda Ooooh".

REVIEWS:
x Christmas does funny things to people. Even pop groups as reliably excellent at singles as Girls Aloud toss out pointless, lazy covers in a ruthless attempt to snare that coveted seasonal chart-topper from the X-Factor's clutches.
Having gained their first number one at Christmas three years ago via Popstars: The Rivals, they've long outlived their 'rivals' One True Voice and most of the other pap to come from Cowell's Saturday night cheesefest, with a string of inspired pop classics. This sadly isn't one of them, but a limp cover of Tiffany's '80s hit would still be a far worthier number one than the inevitable anodyne ballad which, terrifyingly, could be sung by 'Scouse charmer', and monumental twerp, Ray Quinn.
A Christmas number one is hardly a measure of quality, but it would be nice to think that someone, anyone, could halt the X-Factor's unstoppable rampage. These lasses probably have a better chance than most, and while it wouldn't exactly be a victory against the evils of reality TV, it'd be pretty sweet nonetheless.
