GIRLS ALOUD | Jump

LYRICS:

Your eyes tell me that you want me
I can feel it in your heartbeat
I know you like what you see
Hold me, I'll give you all that you need
Wrap your love around me
You're so excited, I can feel you
Getting hotter, oh baby

I'll take you down, I'll take you down
Where no one's ever gone before
And if you want more
if you want more, more, more

Then
Jump! for my love
Jump in! and feel my touch
Jump!, if you wannna taste
Ty kisses in the night then,
Jump, Jump for my love

I know my heart
(I know my heart can make you happy)
Jump in!
You know these arms
(You know these arms can feel you up)
Jump!, if you wannna taste
My kisses in the night then,
Jump, jump For my love

You told me, I'm the only woman for you
Nobody does you like I do
Then make a move before you try
And go much further
Oh baby

You are the one, you are the one
And heaven waits here at my door
And if you want more,
If you want more, more, more

Then
Jump! for my love
Jump in! and feel my touch
Jump!, if you wannna taste
Ty kisses in the night then,
Jump, Jump for my love

I know my heart
(I know my heart can make you happy)
Jump in!
You know these arms
(You know these arms can feel you up)
Jump!, if you wannna taste
My kisses in the night then,
Jump, jump For my love

When you are next to me, (ooooh)
Oh, I come alive (yeah)
Your love burns inside (oooooh)
Oh, it feels so right (hey)
Come to me if you want me tonight...

Jump!

I know my heart
(I know my heart can make you happy)
Jump in!
You know these arms
(You know these arms can feel you up)
Jump!, if you wannna taste
My kisses in the night then,
Jump, jump For my love

Single information:
The track was released on 17 November 2003 and continued Girls Aloud's string of hits, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart. Their version appeared on the re-release of their debut album Sound of the Underground and was also included on 2004's What Will the Neighbours Say?.

Notes:
"Jump" is a cover. It was originally performed by The Pointer Sisters in 1983. It is included on the soundtrack of the movie Love Actually. Love Actually director Richard Curtis phoned Xenomania when they were in a taxi in Berlin, and explained that he thought "Jump" would be a good Girls Aloud single.

Had the opportunity of Love Actually not arisen, Girls Aloud's fourth single would have been "Some Kind Of Miracle" (originally titled "Should I Stay Or Should I Go").

The aggressive synth sound in the chorus comes from a Jupiter 6 - the idea was that 'JUMP!' had to be followed by a sound demanding that you jump.

REVIEWS:
x Strangely, their most endearing song might be their cover of the Pointer Sisters' "Jump." Like nearly every other song here, it demonstrates their phenomenal power in finding a certain joy in ugliness. It's an authentic inauthenticity set to the sound of a thousand discotheques. It's being surrounded by a drunken hen party and finding enchantment instead of repulsion. Rather then taking notes from the sidelines, Girls Aloud exist somewhere near the center of our culture. That they can dance on and across these tensions and contradictions whilst making the kind of singles that fold into the fabric of daily life is what makes them special. Paul Scott

x (...) Girls Aloud's debut single, Sound of the Underground, proved that Popstars winners can make good music. Jump takes whatever credibility they had left and runs off with it. Horrible bass, klutzy production and so-so singing put the girls at the bottom of the pop pile with Atomic Kitten. The Times
