MANIA | Money In My Pocket | |
|
LYRICS:
I'm sitting at the kitchen window Just looking at the world go by Clock's ticking but the time ain't moving Doesn't life just fly right by Not missing all the complications Not wishing on a lucky star Not going back to where I came from 'Cos I made it work so far I know everyone who's let me down And I know all the ones who'll be around Yes I know and it means everything to me Just to know exactly who and what is real Got some money in my pocket Got my head on tight I don't need a substitute To make me feel alright Got no worries in my diary, got a lot to gain And if you could walk in my shoes Then you'd feel the same I'm living on the same old story Heart's beating but it's not so fast Been laying down my real intentions 'Cos I never thought they'd last I'm shutting all the doors behind me I'm looking at an open space I'm cutting all the ties that bind me Gonna walk right off this page 'Cos I know I've got nothing left to fear And I know all the things I want to hear Yes I know that it's me who brought me down And I know, gotta turn myself around Got some money in my pocket Got my head on tight I don't need a substitute To make me feel alright Got no worries in my diary, got a lot to gain And if you could walk in my shoes Then you'd feel the same I want to be all that I can be all that I can be I'm letting go, you'd better hold on Take it from me, take what you need I'll see you right, open your mind I know, I know, who's let me down I know, I know who'll be around I know, I know just what that means To know, to know just what is real I know everyone who's let me down And I know all the ones who'll be around Yes I know and it means everything to me Just to know exactly who and what is real Got some money in my pocket Got my head on tight I don't need a substitute To make me feel alright Got no worries in my diary, got a lot to gain And if you could walk in my shoes Then you'd feel the same I didn't need to worry for so long Never thought that I could be this strong I only ever wanted to be true That's why I'm running to I don't care what people say Doesn't matter anyway You do yours and I'll do mine Carry on we'll be just fine and I've been waiting all my life To get to where I am And if I ever reach the top I hope you understand

INFORMATION:
x appears on: Mania - album sampler (2004) promo
x
Written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Giselle Sommerville, Lisa Cowling & Niara Scarlett. (?) x The song was re-recorded by Frank and released on their 2006 album Devil's Got Your Gold. REVIEWS: x I have a feeling this second single isn't hugely likely to change their fortunes, although on first listens it packs more of a punch than Looking For A Place and, having as it does a kind of sassy chantalong chorus is probably more in keeping with the idea of what a Xenomania-associated group called Mania are supposed to do with. The best bit is the quick-step of the prechorus, the fluttering melody of the chorus is almost an afterthought, really, though the little string flourishes following it are kind of neat.
